CalDigit Tuff Nano, the smallest, toughest mobile NVMe SSD on the market

CalDigit released what must be the smallest mobile NVMe SSD currently available. The 74 grammes CalDigit Tuff Nano has a capacity of 512GB (soon also available in a 1TB version). The Tuff Nano is slightly bigger than two CompactFlash cards laid next to each other and slightly thicker than two of them stapled on top of each other. It comes with two cables in a sturdy plastic storage box.

Falcon 40 solar panel charges your devices fast

Powertraveller’s Falcon 40 is a 40W foldable solar panel driven by high-efficiency monocrystalline SunPower cells. It’s meant to be used while you’re backpacking or otherwise active in the great outdoors and therefore very useful for documentary makers or video shooters who don’t stay in the direct vicinity of a grid. It’s splash-proof (IPX4) and has individually sealed off (silicon plug) output connectors – two USB (5V/3A Max) and one DC output (20V/2A).

The box contains the actual SATA to USB adapter with a DC input and USB 3.0 type micro-B female connector, a corresponding USB 3.0 cable and a power adapter.

OWC’s blazingly fast portable drive for pros, the Envoy Pro EX VE

OWC’s portable drive, the Envoy Pro, originally came in a USB 3 version, but with the push for ever higher throughput speeds required for 4K, HDR and 8K video shooting and streaming, the company has introduced another, new 300g lightweight Envoy Pro EX that’s been equipped with a captive Thunderbolt 3 cable. The Thunderbolt 3 Envoy Pro EX actually is a series of devices, all equipped with Thunderbolt 3, but split up in the Envoy Pro EX series and the Envoy Pro EX (VE) series, which is even faster and has bigger capacities.

Crucial’s MX500 is fastest ever SSD

The newest SSD Crucial recently released has Micron’s new 64-layer NAND memory and is the first high-speed SSD to leave the factory since the Lexar brand was sold. The MX500, as it’s called, is in some tests the fastest SSD currently available. It’s so fast that it suffers from the performance limitations of its form factor, which is a 2.5in SATA disk.
