reMarkable, the paper tablet vendor, today announced Type Folio, a slim keyboard for typing on reMarkable 2. Customers can order Type Folio today on remarkable.com and from select retailers.
Type Folio brings physical keyboard support to reMarkable 2. It transforms reMarkable 2 into a portable tablet that enables users to take handwritten and typed notes.
reMarkable’s mobile and desktop applications enable seamless note-taking across devices. With notes stored and synced in the cloud, users can capture ideas and build on their thoughts no matter where they are or what device they’re working on.
The new Type Folio combines the premium feel and protection of a folio with a keyboard that disappears from view when not needed. Featuring full-size letter keys and 1.3 mm of key travel, Type Folio offers comfortable typing in a thin, lightweight package.
Type Folio connects automatically to reMarkable 2 using magnets, requiring no additional pairing, charging, or updating. Once connected, the keyboard opens to two fixed positions: a traditional typing position, and a near-flat position that’s perfect for combining typed text and handwritten notes.
Of course, reMarkable’s software now supports typed text. The paper tablet detects when users open the keyboard and automatically rotates the display, enabling users to switch quickly and seamlessly between handwriting and typing. Handwritten text anchors intelligently to typed text, ensuring that scribbled and typed notes stay connected even as users move text up and down the page.
“Never before have handwriting and typing been so integrated, seamless, and free-flowing,” Solberg said. “We call it Free Create, and it’s one of the biggest innovations to hit the paper tablet category since reMarkable 2.”
Type Folio is available to order now on remarkable.com for €199. Customers who had an active Connect subscription on March 6, 2023, are eligible for a discount on Type Folio. They should log in to my.remarkable.com to redeem the offer. Type Folio features keyboard layouts in six different languages: US English, UK English, German, Spanish, French, and Nordic (including Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, and Finnish). The Type Folio cover is available in artificial leather in two finishes: Ink Black and Sepia Brown.
